For sale is a very old hand carved and hand painted wooden angel, made by Anri with a Reuge, Swiss, movement. The angel is in very fine condition. There are no broken wings or cracks or chips. These date from the 1950\'s.The angel is 6.5 inch high. The angel rotates as the music plays. The carving is very beautiful. This is an all wood angel. Some of the Anri carvings are a combination of wood and composite material.
On an average, it takes about three months to create an ANRI figure. The process begins with the purchase of 80 year old maple trees from plantations in France. Only the best and healthiest trees are selected and only about 20% of these meet the ANRI standards. These logs are air dried for up to 3 years and then cut into blocks which are kiln dried to reduce moisture to 10%. Woodcarver Oswald Moroder founded the shop in the year 1937. This is the reason why these boxes are so sought after and are so pricey.
