Presented is a meaningfulantique Greek or Russian Orthodox iconic plaque.

We believe it to dates from the 1700s to as late as the 1910s.

The plaque features adark red-brownbackground depicting a character of the Christian faith. At the top is an inset of Mary/Madonnawith Jesus.

There is writing at the top of the piece as well as on the documents that the figure is holding and standing near. To the untrained eye,this writingappears to be Orthodox Russian or Greek.

The back contains special import tags and information.

The piece shows some loss of the material of its surface, but none of the marks are very obstructive to the overall scene.
