ORIGINAL 1737 ELEAZAR ALBIN (1680-1742) \'THE TURKEY COCK\' HANDCOLORED COPPER ENGRAVING
This is just a great original piece. The labels on the back explain everything you need to know about this print. \"This original print is from \"A Natural History of Birds\" by Eleazar Albin. The drawings were made from live birds, engraved onto copper plates and hand coloured by the author himself or his daughter. This was the first hand couloured bird book to be published in Britain.\" One of the nicer prints from this book a classic look at the turkey. Stunning large image measuring about 9 x 11 inches. Outstanding original condition. \"35\" upper right corner and the name and artists name and date along the bottom margin. Outstanding original color. Print is archival matted and framed in a wonderful frame. The label on the back describes the frame as: \"This solid \"birdseye\" maple, hand crafted frame is carved from native hardwood and finished to a soft hand rubbed glow. It is produced in a... block corner flat frame patterned after an American style popular from 1825-1850.\" It goes on to explain the archival properties of the backing and the glass. Really a wonderful presentation of a stunning original early print. Frame measures 18 x 20 1/2 inches.
