Incredibly Elegant Meissen Porcelain Busts, Pair

A pair of Meissen busts of the Bourbon children, late 19th century.
After the 18th century models by J.J. Kaendler, Prince Louis Charles de Bourbon and Princess Marie Zephirine de Bourbon, both with applied flower corsages, on matching gilt-edged scroll-work bases.NOTES:

Prince Louis Charles de Bourbon (1751-1761) and Marie Zephirine de Bourbon (1750-1755) were the eldest children of Louis, Dauphin of France (1729-1765) and his wife, Maria Josepha of Saxony (1731-1767) and the grandchildren of Augustus III, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland (1696-1763).

After being in storage for decades, it\'s time these beautiful busts come out and grace the home of someone who will display and enjoy them. I purchased these at a very reputable, high end antique shop many,many years ago. These are very special and I think, after you look them over, you\'ll agree.

This pair of busts measure approx 5\" high x approx 4\" wide at the widest point. The beautiful, elegant bases are approx 2\" in diameter and are solid. Not hollow. Each is stamped in gold \"Germany\" and an Asterisk inside a gold circle. There are numbers hand written on the bottom of each. A gold gilt anchor is stamped on the back of each one.

The Princess with the ruffled hat has flawless ruffles on the hat and blouse.Lovely pale blue and lavender attire contain hand painted details. The hat ribbon, tied neatly under her chin, has just the smallest nick on the end of one ribbon. The corsage of 4 delicate blossoms has small nicks, totally consistent with the age of the figure. It\'s obviously all hand painted with exquisitely detailed flowers and gold leafing. The facial features are absolutely stunning and it\'s hard not to stare into her eyes.

The Prince is dressed in a royal purple and white Victorian gown with an elaborate gold leafed bodice and deep ruffles. The beautiful hat he wears is hand painted with lovely bouquets of delicate flowers, bound with a pale yellow band that crosses in the back, comes around the front and ties beneath his chin. The beautiful flower cluster on his hat has just a few small nicks, again, consistent with age. These small nicks in no way detract from the beauty or the quality of the piece.
