Please note; I have acollection of antique and vintage military buttons ranging from before the U.S. Civil War up to the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. I will be listing individually buttons foryour consideration here on until they are all sold. None of the uniform buttons in my collectionare reproductions or dug up relics. Ifyou collect antique military uniform buttons please take a moment to look atthe other buttons I currently have listed and consider possibly offerding on multipleitems. Of course, I do combine multiple purchasesas to provide a savings on shipping charges so long as the items purchased canfit inside a single box.

For sale is this fabulous looking antique 1860\'s, U.S. Civil War era, FederalNavy officer\'s uniform button. The button features an Eagle (looking to the left) perched atop a vertical anchor surrounded by thirteen (13) five-pointed stars around the perimeter of the button\'s face.Thisbutton has been in my private collection for over 25 years.

This top of the button is made out of metal which I believe to be eitherbrass or copper as it is not magnetic. This button is small measuring approximately .50\" in diameter. Look at the description photo of the button taken next to the Lincoln penny (penny not included) for comparison purposes.

On the front side of the button there is a spread-winged eagle perched atop a vertical anchor surrounded by a total of 13 five-pointed stars. Behind the eagle are vertical lines or ridges that fill in the field of the button\'s face. Around the outer most edge of the button\'s face is an ornate rope design edging.

On the reverse side of the button there is no “backmark” or manufacturer\'s name. The bottom portion of the button and its shank are made of stamped or rolled steel thus they are magnetic. The button\'s shank is a floating shank style that remains securely in place and swivels as it was designed to do.

Overall, this button is a non-dug military uniform buttonthat is in very good to excellent condition for being over 160 years old. Although the button shows obvious age andwear, there is no rust or significant damage seen anywhere on its surfaces. The button has never been cleaned and thebrass metal retains much of its original brilliance among a natural smooth patina finish.

If you collect antique or vintage militarybuttons, this piece will make a proud addition to your collection ordisplay. Collectors already know authenticperiod buttons in this beautiful of condition are becoming harder to find as theyhave become highly collectible and sought after pieces over the past decade. This is a beautiful example of a Federal Navy officer\'s button that dates back to the Civil War era.

Please look at the photos closely as they accurately depictthe button I describe and show exactly what you will receive if you win thissale. If you have any questions orwould like additional photographs, please email me and I will respondASAP. Good luck.
