DollDetails:

What a rare beauty! This early German composition or heavy papier mache domehead isn\'t marked, though it little matters- see how serene she is?

As with most early papier maches and compos, she is not perfect- she has a slight crackle across the bridge of her nose, through the two eye sockets; frankly, this is to be expected after a hundred years of summers! Good news is that there is no repaint, particularly around the eyes, and the paint is still in quite good condition, with pretty eyelashes, blush, faint auburn brows, and pink lips, as well as red eye and nostril dots. And look at those beautiful blue inset glass eyes! Though her antique costume is sewn to her, through the clothes we can feel that the body is the original sawdust stuffed corset body; some slight shifting of the stuffing, particularly in the legs.

That being said, she is still a lovely and very early girl- we\'ve been conservative in her age estimate, but to judge by the domed head and original inset glass eyes, she could be earlier than our estimate, possibly 1870s era. Of note areher original glazed china hands; they are quite dirty after a century but we see no chips. Her wig is vintage, and though it\'s not the original, it seems to be a nice human hair wig, well knotted. Some dust anddirt to crevices as to be expected.

CostumeDetails:

Dress: beautiful antique purple serge dress with later lace collar added and tiny glass buttons, c1910s era

Undergarments: antique pantaloons with fancy lace, and simple cotton petticoat, both c1910s era, some stains

Hat: darling straw bonnet, artist made, c1970s era

Stockings and Shoes: stockings, c1910s; shoes, c1960s patent leather

Jewelry: tiny antique rolled gold lingerie pin, c1900s

Allin all, a lovely early compo or papier mache girlie in a decidedly Jane Austen frock and bonnet- Pride and Prejudice (and Zombies?) anyone?

Marionettejilly is not a big ol\' corporation. We are actually pretty nice folks, with an interest in antiques, fighting upstream against inflation and the economy just like everyone else. In the rare event that there is a problem with an item, just sit back, take a deep breath, and tell us about it calmly. We have not set out to scam you. Chill. All the policies below are just because a couple of folks in the past decided to be meanies. We know you\'re not like that- we certainly aren\'t.

Here at Marionettejilly, we try to be accurate with our descriptions- but we aren’t perfect, and we may have missed something that’s important to you-- so ask before an sale ends! We sell mostly vintage and antique items, with wear and the ravages of time as to be expected.

Do not expect our vintage items to be in new or like new condition- many of our items are fragile, played with, and many are over 100 years old.

AND---- many of our items have been in storage for years,so if you are allergic to dust, or sensitive to certain scents or smells, we do not recommend purchasing vintage items.Use your own good common sense, and expect an item to have a unique patina and history all its own- with imperfections inherent in antique pieces!

Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 10am to 5 pm, Eastern Standard Time. We cannot answer emails unless they come through the message system- this protects both parties. Emails received after these hours will be answered as promptly as is possible on the next business day. Please do not expect a response during the weekend- with any luck we are out doing something fun, far far away from the computer!

And, as a final note to the patient people who have bothered to read everything so far: Sorry if we sound crabby. Sometimes people can be so petty and unreasonable it can break your heart. We\'ve had a run of rather awful experiences this season- let\'s hope it ends soon, before we lose the rest of our hair, our jolly perspective on life in general, and our much-needed sense of humor!!!
