Details:

Goodness! Wecould not believe our eyes when we opened this vintage trunk- not onlywas there an antique doll in there, but also linens, silver, accessories, dishes, and atrousseau of extra clothes! To judge by the doll, this was someone\'sfavorite plaything, with pieces added over the years.

Ladiesfirst, so here is the lady\'s information: this much-beloved Germanlady has a pretty papier mache head with unusual brown glass eyes, in a nice cabinet size, which is verydelicately painted. At just over 15\" tall, she\'s just thesize to be the centerpiece of your cabinet doll collection! Thisdoll, with her serene face, is unmarked andundoubtedly German in origin. Her face is quite pretty, with very lightly painted pink cheeks, a beestung red mouth with slightlyupturned smileline, bright glass eyes, and very thick long singlestroke symmetricalblack brows. A good deal of wear topaint on face, as is normal for these maches, but the good news is that the face has not been repainted. She has a vintage, but not original, human hair wig, done up in a darling bun at the back of the neck.

Her corset waisted kid leather sawdust stuffed body is the original, and has the original pink bisque hands. No chips to the hands, thought there are a few repairs to the knees; the dress is sewn to her so no body pictures, alas. The dress is antique, c1910 or so, but is quite fragile, with several tears in it; she also has a nice golden necklace and a darling older hart with hatpin. Wear to antique clothing as to be expected.

The vintage trunk is not quite as old as the doll, but is a really nice 1950s-60s doll trunk, with metal hardware, plastic handle and brass clasp, and the original pink paper. The drawer is there but missing its handle.

Insidethe trunk are treasures galore! You get everything you see in the trunk:

A great vintage 1950s handkerchief, a 1920s antique Valentines card; a great set of doll\'s necklaces on a card; a pair of 1950s hangers with a vest and a cute red top hanging on them; a tiny porcelain thimble, c1970s; some vintage doll sized pillowcases and matching sheets, c1960s; a small basket; an antique lithographed postcard, c1940s; a little gingham bonnet, c1960s; a red earring (great as a brooch for dolly); a metal gingerbread cookie cutter; an antique Japanese pitcher, c1920s; a super 1920s demitasse cup and matching saucer; a little lace umbrella (nonopening); two vintage spoons; a little Wade figurine; a lace doily; a great doll-sized teapot and sugar (neither has a lid and both have chips), c1950s; a 1920s salt shaker in the shape of a jug; and a miniature jointed bear.

Heavens! That\'s a lot of stuff- a great many antique pieces, here, too--looks like our girl is planning to stay awhile!

Thisdoll has been lovingly taken care of over the years- and it looks asthough she is ready to travel to new adventures!

*please note- this is quite a heavy item due to the metal trunk!

Kindly Take a Moment and Read This Before offerding:

Marionettejilly is not a big ol\' corporation. We are actually pretty nice folks, with an interest in antiques, fighting upstream against inflation and the economy just like everyone else. In the rare event that there is a problem with an item, just sit back, take a deep breath, and tell us about it calmly. We have not set out to scam you. Chill. All the policies below are just because a couple of folks in the past decided to be meanies. We know you\'re not like that- we certainly aren\'t.

Here at Marionettejilly, we try to be accurate with our descriptions- but we aren’t perfect, and we may have missed something that’s important to you-- so ask before an sale ends! We sell mostly vintage and antique items, with wear and the ravages of time as to be expected.

Do not expect our vintage items to be in new or like new condition- many of our items are fragile, played with, and many are over 100 years old.

AND---- many of our items have been in storage for years,so if you are allergic to dust, or sensitive to certain scents or smells, we do not recommend purchasing vintage items.Use your own good common sense, and expect an item to have a unique patina and history all its own- with imperfections inherent in antique pieces!

Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 10am to 5 pm, Eastern Standard Time. We cannot answer emails unless they come through the message system- this protects both parties. Emails received after these hours will be answered as promptly as is possible on the next business day. Please do not expect a response during the weekend- with any luck we are out doing something fun, far far away from the computer!

And, as a final note to the patient people who have bothered to read everything so far: Sorry if we sound crabby. Sometimes people can be so petty and unreasonable it can break your heart. We\'ve had a run of really awful experiences this season- let\'s hope it ends soon, before we lose the rest of our hair, our jolly perspective on life in general, and our much-needed sense of humor!!!
