Description:Presented for your consideration is this neat \"Speaking Dog\" mechanical bank made by J & E Stevens. The bank is made of cast iron and features a woman holding a tray with a dog sitting in front of her. The maroon base is marked with \"Speaking Dog\" on the front, \"Bank\" on the side and the bottom of the base is marked \"Pat. July 14, 1885 and Oct. 20, 1885.\" It has a square coin trap but the door to the trap is missing.The bank works by putting a coin on the girl\'s tray and pushing the lever next to the dog. When the lever is pushed the girl\'s arm moves down and the coin slides off of the tray and into the bank. At the same time the dog\'s mouth opens and he wags his tail. The bank is in WORKING condition and is guaranteed to be old and original. This neat bank would make a great addition to any mechanical bank collection!
Paint wear is present from age and use. A spot of white paint is on the top of the base. As stated above the coin trap door is missing. Dog is loose on the base. No cracks or breaks. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the best details on condition.
Measures 3\" deep, 7 1/2\" wide and 7 1/4\" tall.
