Surrounding the Ship is a composition suggesting Mythological and/ or Occult Allegory. At the very top is a face that may represent King Neptune (Poseidon) or some other Pagan God. The piece evokes the legendary tales of buccaneers, sailors, explorers. pirates and adventurers. We are not experts on metals, but it looks like this item is either brass or copper. Or some type of metal along those lines. It is not very thick. But is is solid and substantial. We do not know the exact origins, but it may hail from Europe. Possibly French or Italian or from the Kaiser\'s Germany. Being very old, the Shield is in very good vintage condition with some expected normal age wear (it has not been cleaned up).
