Here for your consideration is an exquisite and extremely rare, antique Victorian, 1898, novelty, silver repousse, fox hunting, card/ pill/snuff box, depicting a fox being chased by the hunt, with three hounds and the master of the hunt, jumping a crooked wooden picket fence, trees and grass in the foreground.

This is as good as it gets with regards to repousse, novelty, hunting, card/pill/snuff boxes. There areplenty of boxes out there, but how manyof these have you seen. An extremely rare find indeed, I\'ve only got one, once it\'s gone .... it\'s gone. You might never findanother one like this, and if there\'s one thing I\'ve learned about antiques, when items are of quality and extremelyrare he who hesitates usually loses out.

It features delightful, finely engraved, high relief, repousse workmanship, bearing the GF maker\'s mark in a diamond cartouche for George Fox, lion passant, leopards head London assay mark, and a date letter \'C\' in a chamfered cartouche for 1898.

A beautiful example of a novelty card/pill/snuff box by one of the very best Victorian silversmiths. Considering this exquisite novelty silver repousse box is 118 years old itsin very good condition, with no denting or damage. It does have a small amount of gilt loss/ staining and some beautiful age related silver patination, commensurate with 118 years of age, but nothing unusual.

First registered in 1861. They specialised in boxes, baskets, brandy saucepans, casters, coffee pots, cruets, cups and covers, ewers, inkwells, jar lids, mustards, pounce pots, salts, spoons, and tea services.
