Up for sale antique hand painted enamel portrait brooch artist signed. Brooch depicts profile portrait of young woman of influence, wearing garment reminiscent of the Baroque or Renaissance period? There are traces of gold foil in head dress and gown. There are 14 clusters of rose cut diamonds surrounding portrait, 6 stones per grouping, of the 84 stones 4 are missing. Brooch tests 18 karat weighs 14.7 grams. Signed a AC, stamped on pin with diamond shape surrounding torch with I and S on opposing sides, and what looks like a bushel of wheat? There is a number 21 stamped on pin. Reverse side has a cross shape with removable pin detaching the portrait plaque and brooch closure piece. The gold shows considerable toning consistent with age, maybe 18th century? Dimensions are 1 1/8\" x 1 1/16\". There are 2 minor hairlines that run from the edge of setting to the gown, visible under 10x magnification. Bezel has a good deal of scratches, small rub on lady\'s cheek.
