Antique 18th Century English Brass Scallop Base Candlestick Push-Up Ejector 1770:
$73.15

This refined English core cast brass candlestick was crafted during the early reign of George III and incorporates a functioning push-rod ejector mechanism, (involves the use of a thin iron rod running the length of the stem, fitted with a circular brass disc at either end, and by pressing the lower button, the rod can be pushed upward to clear remaining candle wax from the socket) and stands on a eight lobed scallop base, with a sunken circular well. The slender and detailed stem is decorated with a six sided shoulder, surmounted by a elongated cylindrical mid-fillet socket, with a dished, eight lobed integral nozzle, emulating the design of the base. The well-modelled scallop base is peened to the stem, and meticulously lathe-turned underneath, displaying a superb colour.
