This piece is a cotton/linen. It features a red and cream battle scene with French inscription, translatedto \"Innocence saved by the bravery of a French solider.\" There is also a signature on a rock nearby,Delmés Sculpsit (?). A water scene with birds, a boat and quaint houses complete the piece. It is framedin 18th century printed cotton, block printed fabric and backed with handwoven linen. It is in good conditionwith an early repair and a few small holes. It measures 15 1/2\"L X 18\"W. It is extremely rare and wouldmake a great addition to any collection.
