Here is an absolute beautiful antique 18th Century Georgian ladies etui - necassaire which has most of its original tools inside as well.
As you can see it is a rather an unusual one this being made from the semi precious bloodstone ( Heliotrope ) which is usually only seen on smaller items such as signet rings or fob seals.
It has gilt metal rococo mounts in great condition ...the very top finial has a hole in it.. so there was once probably a loop in here.
The push button is a paste stone and it works fine.. the interior is gilded metal and has the bottom section with various sized and shaped holes to accomodate the tools.
It includes a gilt topped PENCIL .. the wooden pencil has broken off .... all gilt FRUIT Peeler & Eater in great condition .....a BODKIN in great condition ..... an AIDE MEMOIR which has the brass rivett holding both bits ...and the gilt and steel SCISSORS .. these are a little pitted on the steel and open and close fine.. not really been used by the look of them.. the gilt hinged handle parts work fine and close back up to fit in the box.... when all the tools are in situ .. you will see there is 1 tool missing.. a TOOTHPICK maybe. ..that sort of size and shape.
You will find the scissors only really like to go in one way.. otherwise the top of the handles tend to catch the lid as it closes down.. so be careful taking the items in and out.... they will feel tight.... In my opinion this Ladies Sewing Etui has not been used much if at all and the items are still tight from lack of use.
With it was a small pink ribbon and an old business card with hand writing it says ...This I believe is my fathers mother who died in Jamaica.... the business card is cut in half and the other side says Surgeon General Dr C.A. G at an address 25 Westbourne Square W. .. from that I can google this info and see that was Surgeon General Dr C.A. Gordon who was in practise about 1887.... you will see he wrote books.

This etui of course is much earlier c1760-80 ....  and will have been passed down the family from the Georgian era.
The Etui is 4 and a quarter inch long overall to the finial top ....the actual bloodstone is 4 inch long x 1 and half inch wide at the top x 1 and a an 1/8th inch wide at the bottom x 3/4 inch deep at the top x 5/8ths inch deep at the bottom.
