Here we have a rare large carved wood temple statue of a seated Chinese Daoist figure, Caishen, painted in polychrome red, black, and white with gold/silver gilt on the chest emblem and collar, and heavy gold gilt on the face and hands. Suspected late Qing Dynasty, late 19th to early 20th century. Carved from a solid piece of wood with a small space in his back sealed with a block, and likely still hold the contents of a ritual blessing. Measures approximately 25\" tall, with an 11\" diameter at the base.Condition is Good. Has a visible split in the wood at the bottom left foot(his left, your right). polychrome and gilt still excellent with minor paint loss, minor dings, and surface flaws conducive with age. From below, there is evidence of past bug damage. Outward extensions of head piece have broken off and been restored. May need light cleaning, which will be left to the buyer.Sold as is. Check all photos, and ask questions before offerding.
