Estate sale find. Here we have a chrome-plated brass dime bank charm.
It is rare to find one of these at all, especially one that was not used in a commercial promotion.
Also, most of these say \"Good Luck\" on the lid.
A well-made and ingenious item! Not \"tinny\" at all... made of chromed brass!
The little bank has a coin slot that dimes fit through--it is controlled by a small spring-loaded shutter door
that keeps the dimes from falling out. The bank holds ten dimes.
But when the tenth dime is inserted the back door latch opens, releasing the dimes.
That saved dollar was a fair amount of money in 20s and 30s!
The charm is marked \'\'PATENT\', but has no maker\'s marks.
There is a loop to hang it on a chain or key chain.
The charm measures 1\" x 3/4\" x 1/2\".
