on the Lid under Transparent Enamel

Marked in two places,on top and bottom ofa gold gilded interior (vermeil), with numbers \"9 & 4?\", Frenchassay mark \"Crab\" for small objects of .800 silver purity guaranteeand hallmark \"J.C.andsymbol un chou (cabbage) between initials\" for Parisian silversmith Jules Chouville, 1886. Removable with its frame miniature is in perfect condition with no losses, cracks or restoration andapparently, not signed.Masterfulsilver curving of St.Christopher creates an appearance of depth, dimension, perspectiveand even movement.

Measurements:diameter ± 1 1/2\" (38 mm); height ± 1/2\" (12 mm); weight ± 26 gr.

Condition is very good. Somelimited losses of enamel (see scans). Slight bent on a interior upperlip above the hinge. Convex glasscover (plastic - probably old replacement) has very short crack (see photo). Backing has some writing on one side andcrimped foil on another (usual technicsto enhance theglow of the painting).Light surface scratches commensurable with age.
