ANTIQUE SILVERPLATE AND CUT GLASS COMPOTE DISH RUSSIAN ALEXANDER KATSCH
The featured item represents a 19th century glass and silver compote dish that measures approximately 6 1/4\" tall, 9 1/4\" across the top and 4\" in diameter the base.
The bowl has a round shape with scalloped edges and is made of frosted glass with cut to clear design. The edge of the silver base is marked with \"Alex Katsch\".
I was not able to find a detail information on the maker but from the little I could, it seems like Alexander Katsch was a Russian silversmith who operated first in Moscow and later in St. Petersburg and Berlin, Germany after a 1860 contract was signed with Krupp. In 1889 WMFbought the Alexander Katsch\'s cutlery in Berlin.
The item comes in well-preserved condition for its age with no cracks, chips or broken pieces. There maybe tiny chips on some of the glass ages but nothing significant. Other vintage wear like small scuffs, marks and scratches here and there as well as small production flaws and imperfections. Patina on the metal parts and base metal showing through.
