Antique 19th C. SEVRES Biscuit JASPER Porcelain PORTRAIT MEDALLION of Louis XIV:
$193.50

A Sevres biscuit porcelain circular portrait medallion of Louis XIV from the first half of the 19th century. Possibly by Jean Mascret, sculptor at Sevres 1810-1848.
It is made in the Wedgwood jasper style with the white reliefprofileapplied to a pale blue ground. The detailed portrait has small firing cracks with some discoloration but appears actually whiter in person than in the main picture. No other damage to the medallion.
The reverse has a distinct cloth texture and is inscribed with \"oG\". No other marks.
The black wooden frame is in very good condition with just a little paint loss to the lowest part and a couple of superficial cracks on the backside. The medallion seems to be glued to the frame but there are some holes from tacks.
Medallion diameter: 8.5 cm Frame diameter: 11.8 cm Weight: 112 g
