A FINE example of a Victorian oil pastel; ID\'d as Caroline Nelson Bergstrom who was originally from Sweden but settled in Worcester, MA. No artist signature that I can note but definitely done by an artist with quite some talent and perhaps some notoriety. In Excellent overall condition with only the most subtle hints of use; no major smudging or losses to the pastel; very well preserved. Boasts wonderful attention to detail and capture of emotion. Comes protected behind glass and matted in framed in a handsome wood and gold gilt frame; frame appears to be modern. Exposed oval portion of portrait measures 16 3/4\" x 12 1/2\"; canvas measures 19 1/2\" x 15 1/2\".
