Thisis an absolute masterpiece tribal artifact. It’s an authentic 19thCentury Bulol that was probably part of a gong handle or an ornamental top for a basket. One should never judgethe quality of a fine artifact by its size and this outstanding tribal relic isa strong testament to that sentiment. It measures approximately 4.75” (12.1cm)high on an approximate 1.5” (4.4cm) base. The anthropomorphic detail and realismof this fine Bulol is extraordinary and complimented by fine incision marks onboth the chest plate area and back. A visual review of the hands lets you knowthe level of time, effort, and artisanship that went into creating this finepiece. All of the aforementioned details of this Bulol are highlighted by anexceptionally beautiful patina. This isa fine, authentic, and rare tribal artifact, not some souvenir stand keepsake. This Bulol was part of a prominent Filipino collection and as such was very well cared for.
