antique sword from the north shores of the Visayan sea, probably Bicol penninsula. A rare combination of (stylized) bat head pommel, clip point tenegre blade, and one piece lost wax cast hand guard and bolster. Visibly folded steel blade seems to show a scarf weld at the base where the full length tang is connected. Split in handle shows tang is wrapped in some material; leather, gutta percha, or very dense fabric. The handle is made of honey colored horn, which is also unusual. Rare sword. not keris, talibon, klewang, barong, kampilan, or katana. Bolo, parang, scimitar.
