We are listing today for your consideration a great Antique 19th century W.H. Horstmann & Sons Philadelphia Model M 1852 Civil War Navy Officer\'s Sword. This sword is in Excellent Condition with slight surface wear, you can refer to the pictures, we guarantee 100% you will be more than happy with the exceptional condition. The point is sharp, the edge is not. The sword measures 35 1/2\" long the blade is 30\" long x 1\" wide x 1/4\" at the thickest and weighs approximately 1lb 9oz. The sword is marked W.H. Horstman & Sons Philadelphia on the one side, Iron Proof on the top back of the blade. The grip is wrapped in gray fish skin all secured with twisted wire, 13 loops, a few having some very slight play, along with thinner wire loops below these. The hilt has a side facing eagle at the end, the front guard has USN and oak leaves, and the end cap has an eagle with 13 stars, all washed in gold gilding. The blade is frosted with a number of engraved designs on one side: the mark, leaves, a navy anchor with shield and stars, a circle of stars, scrolls with a Flag with USN, and flames above it, the other side: a eagle perched on a cannon with cannon balls, scrolls, an anchor, ribbon with USN, rope and leaves, and flames above it.
