Oh, this is a fabulous Cave a\' Cigars or cigar tantalus (sans key). The hand carved wood chest is in the most popular style, grooved shelves that are fitted for your cigars and a hinged top that opens up and back for service. Whether for office, den, after dinner at the table, this is a wonderful celebration of that time-honored after dinner cigar. These hand carved works from the artisans of the Black Forest regions of Europe represent one of the longest standing accents of choice for cabin decor, office or hunter\'s lodge as well as for Country French and English Manor decor. You\'ll be happy to know this one is complete with all of the original 5 slide-out trays and each is grooved to hold/present 10, so 50 cigars in all can be housed. With the loosening of trade sanctions on Cuba, we just know you cigar appreciators will be looking for these beautiful old chests. Such a beauty! The wood is rich and warm. This is not a humidor, really, as there is not a soaker apparatus. But people sometimes refer to them as that.

Very good to excellent condition, entirely hand carved, hand made. The trays are all original and all intact but for the small pull-button on the bottom of the 5 trays (visible in our images), and it seems it would not be too difficult to replace it with a similar little wooden knob, or you might even replace all 5 to match, using small brass knobs if not wood. The lock appears to work and is intact, but we do not have a working key at listing time. I have a stash of small keys en route in from France and perhaps we\'ll be able to match one of those old ones but we\'re listing without and will annotate if we do locate a working key. The casket is in very good condition and with carved floral grouping up top, a nice aesthetic without damage to note. No chips of note, though usually there will be a tiny nip to tip of a leaf and there might be - look very closely. There is a hairline age crack to the back of top, you see it on the beveled outer trim. It is totally stable, as is the box. No other flaws to note.

We charge only actual postage & insurance, never a handling fee and never for packaging materials. is now requiring that our clients rank us on \"shipping\". The shipping price, speed and handling are actually under the sole control of the delivering postal agency, not Antiques & Uncommon Treasure so please remember that and leave us high DSR rankings. As always, please also feel free to contact us if you have any problems or concerns, we\'ll do what we can to ensure a happy and mutually enjoyable has been eliminated as an option by , forcing us sellers to either ship your items without insurance or assume that expense also. We always insure our items BUT, more importantly, pack them extremely well knowing that most are not replacable. Again, damage in transit, while rare in our experience, is due to the postal agency handling and not caused by Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. Please remember that when leaving DSR ratings. Thanks!

Our shipping days are Tuesday and Friday, paid items will be shipped on the first shipping day after payment is recieved (except when special circumstances exist). We prefer to use USPS whenever possible, and require all packages to be insured. If you prefer another method of shipment, please mention it.
