(0.818 kilograms) This is a wonderful antique Tanjavur, India, bronze and copper heavy hand hammered and chased Hindu \"aarti\" offering plate with inlaid repousse plaques with religious motifs. This plate is NOT lathe turned like many we have seen, but is entirely hand hammered. Quite thick. The border is attached with copper rivets. As one would expect on this plate, there are no identification markings. Although we are not certain of exact age, the workmanship suggests 19th century. This is a rare piece. Please look at photos carefully, they are an integral part of the description and condition. The patina color of the plate is exquisite, but very hard to capture accurately in the photos. Condition: Excellent antique condition with age appropriate use wear. Beautiful old patina. Not cleaned - left as acquired. Please note that here are traces of old polishing paste in some crevices, but this was there when plate was acquired.Thank you for your interest.
