This is a set of 2 large pieces of crewel embroidery fabric with a beautiful floral design. The exact history is unknown but based on research and 2 local expert options this is believed to be fabric from India made with wool embroidery on a thick linen fabric. The embroidery pattern is hand sewn and does repeat. The design is Indian and it has colonial influence with the size and choice of materials. Perhaps it was commissioned by a British person during colonial times. Believed to be pre 1900.
There are 3 areas with damage where there are holes. They have been photographed and luckily al are close the the edges or corners. No other damage.
The two pieces are the same size and were cut down the middle of the design so the pattern does match up if you put them together.
