Antique German Flash Red Vessel Hand Engraved with FREIBURG MINSTER Germany
This attractive and unusual square section rectangular drinking vessel - or possibly a posy vase, has a flashed deep red panel skillfully engraved with Freiburg Minster.
Stands 9 cm high.
This item is an odd shape for a drinking vessel, so possibly a small vase, but not sure.. (?)
Age: The subtle imperfection of manufacture suggests hand blown glass, and possibly cut class angles, so looks to be 19thC or early 20thC in date.
Freiburg Minster(German:Freiburger Münster or Münster Unserer Lieben Frau) is the cathedral ofFreiburg im Breisgau, southwestGermany. The lastduke of Zähringenhad started the building around 1200 in romanesque style. The construction continued in 1230 in Gothic style. The minster was partly built on the foundations of an original church that had been there from the beginning of Freiburg, in 1120.
