For sale is a bit of a treat - a figurine made by Gardner / Moscow in the early 19th century. It is of a lady and is superbly modeled and hand painted to make this one fun figurine :) The colors and details are stunning! She is wearing a red sarafan, a traditional Russian jumper dress worn by women as Russian folk costume, with a white blouse underneath as her top. On her head she has a kokoshnik which is a traditional Russian headdress that usually accompanies the sarafan . Over the headdress she is wearing a pink scarf . In her left hand she is holding a little pouch possibly for berries or her lunch and a rake in her right hand. I have only found this figurine once anywhere else and there she was said to be holding a walking stick though that looked a bit odd as well on the top part. I am assuming that one was restored as well so hard to tell what it was originally. The lady is standing on a naturalistic base with a gold ring around the bottom edge. The figure displays superbly bit has had a bit of a rough time sometime ago. He head was off and the neck has been restored which could be done better or redone better I should say. The rake top is restored and it has a break in the center of the pole and at the bottom where it touches the ground. The purple blob where it touches the ground was probably once a proper flower or bow but that needs a bit more work to it. I think she was also broken through the torso underneath her bosom and through the arms but it is very hard to tell what happened there. The repair was well done and she displays nicely and is rare enough to warrant a little more help :) The one I saw that did not look to have been in perfect shape either sold for over 15K so it\'s worth getting perfectly restored. The figure is marked underneath with a black letter G as well as some sort of incised mark that looks a bit like a question mark. The figurine is a tiny bit over 6.75 inches tall and the base has a diameter of about 2.25 inches.
