Greetings and welcome to our sale.
Today we are offering a 23\" flat top china doll.
I think this doll may date back to the Civil War era.
She has a china head, arms, and lower section of the legs.
Thelegs have the number 5 incised onthem as shown in the 7th photo.
I think that perhaps the china pieces are original and the body is newer having been repaired and replaced at some point. Please refer to all photos.
The body is stuffed with saw dust or straw or perhaps the combination of both
I don\'t think the dress is original. I think the dress, slip, and pantaloons were probably done at the same time the body was restored.
The doll appears to be in very nice, gently stored vintage condition. In the 11th photo I tried to show you how the one arm was repaired.
So if you\'ve been wanting to add a nice doll to your collection you just might want to consider this one.
