This was my mothers (I know, don\'t all antique listings start out that way) But really - she had this quilt on her queen bed ever since I can remember - very colonial bedroom & home. Needless to say I\'m not colonial. Victorian -yes Colonial -no
Anyway, sometime in the 70\'s she had this quilt redone/re backed / repaired -whatever you call it. She chose a red print (again not my style).The backing is hand sewn & hand tied to the front
Before she had the backing done she had the quilt looked at & dated, of course she didn\'t give me any paperwork or anything, just the quilt.

I\'m sure someone can take the top off again & re back it to their liking or just leave it & fold across bottom of bed with old side showing.
Quilt top is hand sewn really well with 8-point star.Each Square or star is 18\" x 18\"I\'ll try to get good photos of stitching so you can see.Mostly browns & ivory color with a few reds
It is fairly heavy
DISCLOSURE: see a few stains near edge & discoloration on ivory pieces- see photo. Found 2 tears on a seam & another spot where the seam is starting to come apart from the fabric. I have not cleaned or washed so they might come out when cleaned. Could use a washing as it has an old smell. Not disgusting dirty stinky just old smelling. All of my quilts were in a box in the cellar so the smell is musty cardboard - ish.
I think I got all the faults, as it\'s really hard to see because of all the different fabric & design directions.The quilt is really beautiful & would look great in the right setting - rustic, colonial, primitive, etc. just not in mine. If I haven\'t used them by now, I\'m probably never going to.
It measures 98x94 inches.
