ANTIQUE AFRICAN BRONZE DOGON Figurine TRIBAL SCULPTURE WIRE OVER FIRED CLAY URN:
$299.00

This is an sale for an AFRICAN bronze DOGON sculpture featuring a Chief riding a Horse. The chief is wearing a headdress and carrying a dagger. This work is 8\" tall and 6 3/4\" long. This appears to be bronze wire wrapped over clay/charcoal, then fired, meaning the body of horse and chief is solid. The headdress is filled with fired clay, the inside of the horse body appears to be burnt charcoal/ash, leading me to wonder if this is actually an URN. I could not find any definite info on this ancient technique. If you happen to know the area of origination or age or anything about the technique, please email. I would guess this piece dates from the 1800\'s. Email with any questions or answers.
