PERFECT WEDDING GIFT IDEA!
Wonderful polychrome bookends entitled, \"Altar of Love\" and depicting the Victorian elements of marital harmony and bliss: the cherubs represent heavenly blessings; the dog signifies family and faithfulness; and the flame invokes eternal love.
Bronze clad, you can feel the \"wick\" indentations in the bottoms. No maker\'s mark but these are attributed to Pompeian Bronze, circa 1920s.
Condition is excellent: no breaks in the cladding, just mild upward-bending of the front corners (which do NOT impair these pieces from standing firmly, securely, without wobble), and one top right corner just slightly mashed. Best is that the paint is all original, no touchups, and almost entirely intact. Felts on bottoms are not original.
These stand 5 1/2 inches tall; 4 1/2 inches wide; 2 1/4 inches deep. And weigh just over 2 pounds EACH PIECE.
