Up for sale is a stunning antique quilt from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
This colonial styled quilt is adorned with pinwheel appliques, blocks with thread embellishments, and diamond shapes. There are six large blocks (approx. 15\" x 17\") in the center that has been cross stitched (tiny little stitches) with deco/geometric designs. They look like stained glass windows!!
The primary colors are black and red, but this quilt has all colors.
I have never seen a quilt like this before and is likely one of a kind from early days.
Please note there is a strip across the top and bottom that the fabric is torn loose. The bottom is actually missing a piece of fabric in the one strip and some of the fabric in that strip needs to be stitched back down. Also there are threads loose in various others places that can likely be tacked back in place. There is some fading in this antique quilt.
The back is white sheeting type fabric with yellow flowers. It has some stains, nothing real heavy. There are two tears as shown in the pictures.
This gorgeous quilt measures approximately 101\" x 74\" - It comes from a smoke free/pet free Environment and has no strong odors. It has not been cleaned or soaked.
This quilt is to be handled with care - it is very old and fragile in places. Hopefully someone can restore it as I\'m sure it is filled with so many memories from days gone by! I am starting the sale low simply to attract attention - it will be sold to the highest buyer.
