Genuine Western Anatolian Armenian Wool Pile Rug-Aydin Province.It comes within great pile condition for a collector or enthusiast and measures 3\'10\'\'x7\'9\'\'. This antique Armenian rug ,being the last woven example of its kind from that period, is of hand spun wool pile symmetrically hand knotted on solid cotton foundation warps on hand spun ivory wool wefts . This rare item was made on the family loom by one of the last Armenian weaver who lived in Aydin -Afyon province where we always used to dye yarn with simple , natural dyes :This part of Turkey is being always remote area and surrounded by several large lakes , rivers and Mountains ;this might be one of the reason its textiles and rugs were unknown to the Western Markets . This antique item displays a floral cross patterned - central medallion ,simple and naive which symbolizes Christianity in Anatolia.
