Listed here is a GLASSY RED/ORANGE Natural Untreated Jadeite Jade Ring. (Jadeite, not carnelian) The stone is very old and is a double cabochon...meaning it is rounded on the top and the bottom. Only very old and very fine stones were so cut and polished. The setting is heavy gilded silver, the Sterling hallmark stamped on the band. Beautiful custom silver work was made just for this amazing stone. The highly translucent jadeite is almost glassy...please see the photos that show the stone back lit. The jade is translucent and highly pigmented. It has an inner glow that seems to be lit from inside without a light source. I was going to have it resized, which is why it is cut. It can be worn as is. It is currently size 7 or bigger. The measurements of this cabochon are: 18mm x 13mm x about 8mm high. Photographed by window light and incandescent.
