This is beautiful piece. It is an earl 20th century ink well in an Art Nouveau styling. Ornately embossed and in pristine condition. I do not believe it has ever been used. It has been kept behind glass for over a century. It bears the maker mark VCM on all components: On the back of the brass stand. Inside the brass lid and on the bottom of the ink bottle. Truly a fine antique worthy of the finest collections.
The stand measures 8\" in length. It stands 1\" in height at the front. The back at highest point is 2 7/8\" in height. It varies in actual depth, across the front from the front edge across the ink well hole to the ornate back area is approximately 6\". The other end is about 3\" [not counting the legs].
The bottle measures 2 3/4\" in height with the cap in place. With out the cap in place it is 1 5/8\" in height to the top of the glass rim. It is 2 1 /4\" square around the top rim and 1 1/2\" square around the bottom. The ink hole measures 1 3/8\" across outer ink hole rim to outer ink hole rim. The actual hole measure 1\" across and is approximately 1\" deep.
The cap fits accordingly, it does not screw on rather it sits over held in place by the rim.
This piece with all parts weighs 1 lb 11 ozs.

This piece is pristine and I believe never used. It has been stored behind glass for 100 years or more. It is with out scratches, nicks, hair line cracks or dents in the brass. The glass is with out chips, cracks or scratches. It is pristine.
