Impressive pair of antique, hand wrought, Arts & Crafts or Aesthetic period, copper bookends in beautifully preserved condition.
This one-of-a-kind pair of artsy bookends were crafted from heavy copper sheeting, hammered into shape, and then around the perimeter of the central design, which is an intricately acid etched landscape of tall pines or Lombardy poplars on a hillside. Every aspect is unique, and each is quite different from the other. These were not made from a pattern.
They retain their original factory applied patina, and are free of damage, other than a small scratched spot on the back of one.
The cathedral like tops, lend a Gothic appearance to this distinctive pair.
They measure 6 1/2\" high X 5\" wide, on 2 1/2\" bases, and weigh just over 1lb.
I find no signature!Would complement any period Arts & Crafts interior!
