Offered here for your consideration is this pair of antique bisque head dollhouse sisters in their elaborate original clothing! Standing just 5\" tall, the dolls have a bisque shoulder head, along with bisque lower limbs on firmly stuffed cloth bodies. The girls have brunette human hair wigs in fancy up-dos held in place with glue andtiny home made bobby pins. They wear little molded boots with tiny heels, and their facial features are simply painted. These dolls were low-end dolls in their day, and still are. They have stubby little arms (one doll has smaller scale arms than the other!), and the finishing of the bisque is rather crude. This is especially true for the sister in green. There are extra blobs of bisque material scattered over her shoulder head and face. Even her nose is roughly finished, almost looking damaged with magnification. However, they were certainly cherished by some little mommy owner, who treated them to lavish costumes made of fine materials. The fabrics used include silk, taffeta, velvet and cotton lace. The young seamstress added velvet sashes and trims, anda lace overlay on one dress. One sister is lucky enough to have lacy pantaloons while the other goes without, but both the girls have colorfulsilk half sips. The clothes are tightly sewn on but I did manage to see that the doll in the green dress has an incised mark on the back of her shoulder plate: 01 10. The hems of the dresses extend about an inch and a half longer than the legs, like a christening gown does.

These humble dolls are kind of sweet and naïve,lending them an endearing quality. They are looking to inhabit an new dollhouse soon! Maybe yours?
