German 24\" Goebel bisque head doll marked \"Germany B 4\". The marking on back of head is very light but I tried to get a good picture of it. The word Germany is very light and above the B4 mark. I think this doll was made by F & W Goebel porcelain factory, in Coburg, Tjuringia, Germany. This factory started making dolls in 1879. The factory is still in business and is now famous for the Hummel figurines. Head has a chip on the inside ream that does not show from outside. There are two faint lines in the bisque above the right eye extending to the top of head. They do not appear to be cracks but in the firing or paint? The doll has four upper teeth and blue sleep eyes. Eyes are in excellent sleeping condition with some wax chipped off. It shows when eyes are closed. Body is in good original condition. Hands are good with all fingers in tacked. Feet are a problem area where the bottom of right foot is missing and bottom of left foot has cracks around the toe area. Cloths are not original but have been made to fit the doll. Green leather type shoes match the outfit. Stringing could be tightened a little.
