Wonderful bookends depicting a horse head on a decorative base.
Bronze clad (you can feel the depression in the base, the \"wick\" that is tell-tale of electro-forming) by Marion Bronze. See my photo of this set from a copy of an original Marion Bronze catalogue. No maker\'s mark, these would have had foil labels on the bottoms. In fact, the absence of maker\'s mark helps date this set to earlier Marion Bronze (circa 1930s) because later pieces (under new ownership) were to bear the initials \"MB\".
Condition is excellent. The only structural damage is the front of the mane of one horse has been mashed down, buckling the cladding, though not particularly noticeable (see pic). No other breaks in the cladding, no dents, no broken ears, and only the teeniest mashing of one corner. Finish is original, showing one spot of wear as seen in a photograph (that spot is in the middle of the side of the neck - the area below, just above the base, is a trick of the lighting); otherwise, intact and lovely.
These are big, standing 7 1/2 inches tall; 6 1/2 inches from nostrils to nape; and the base is 5 inches by 3 inches. And heavy at 4 pounds EACH PIECE.
