Thiscollection of buttons was part of my grandmother’s button collection. As was tradition among young girls in thelate 1800’s she collected buttons and strung them together, even showing offher string at country fairs in Iowa in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. She added to her string into the early 1900’s. Parts of the string have deteriorated withage but, the longest intact string measures just over 7feet! There are all types ofbuttons in this collection; too many to list but I tried to get a goodrepresentation in the photos.
