The case is apart at its spine.This is an especially interesting and poignant antique Tintype photo. A solemn mother and father pose. The mother is holding their lovely baby who has passed on. This was a treasured memento for the baby\'s parents. Notice the backdrop looks like a piece of canvas. The man has unusual dark areas on each cheek. The photo is quite good. It is a lovely, rich brownish color and has great contrast. The whites are much brighter than our photos. The glass was hazy so we opened it and cleaned it. The photo closest to the actual Tintype is the one taken out of the case. It is still not as nice as the actual Tintype. The Tintype itself is a little under 2 3/4 inches by just under 3 1/4 so it is a sixth plate. The case is apart and the binding and is in very good condition otherwise. The case is 3 1/4 by about 3 3/4 inches. We estimate this to have been taken about 1865 or so, give or take a few short years.
