DESCRIPTION:Up for sale is this original antiquecast iron figural Scottish Terrier (Scottie Dog) boot scraper that even still retains brushes on each side to also brush the mud off the sides of your boots or shoes. It is made up of 5separate pieces held together with screw screws. (The figural dog,(yes just the dog can be removed), the stand he is on, the base with the scraper and the 2 brushes on each side. (The brushes could easily be replaced!). We are not sure the the brushes are original, but they certainly look old with old red paint! The design of the base almost has a art deco style. Both the bottom of the base and the bottom of the iron stand the dog is attached to are marked with the numbers 5700. It is not marked Hubley, but very well could be attributed to a Hubley piece. It also has the number 11 on the bottom which may have something to do with it\'s size, even though the total height is approx. 10 3/4\", not quite 11\".
NOTE: We have included a photo of the cast iron stand that the dog is attached to removed because that is the way we will ship this boot scraper in order to fit it into a smaller-size box to help save on shipping costs. We may also remove the dog to help protect it during shipment. This photo also shows how it looked BEFORE we cleaned it up a bit with soap and water...it was quite dusty!
MEASUREMENTS:Total height is approx. 10 3/4\". Total width is 15\". Total depth is 9\". The brushes measure 8\" L X 2 3/4\" H X 1 3/4\" thick. The actual scraper that you would rub your boot on is 7/8\" tall x 5\" wide. The actual 3D solid cast iron dog attached by 2 screws to the top mount measures approx. 6\" from heal to nose with a total height of 5\" and depth of 2 1/8\".

CONDITION REPORT:PLEASE READ BEFORE offerDING-AS-IS. Original antique cast iron boot scraper. It appears someone applied some sort of shellac to the iron surfaces at one time. The iron has ashiny appearance with some runs and the dog has a yellowed shiny finish, so he looks part white and partyellow. The white paint shows typical wear. The black paint may have been repainted over the years and shows paint chips. There are no breaks, no missing screws. We assume the screws are original. Brushes look oldenough and brittle enough to be original. YES the bristles of the brushes are brittle and worn down in areas. There is a lot of dust/dirt build-up in and around the bristles. The brushes could easily be replaced. They are simply screwed from the inside of the underside. If you like a piece that actually looks old and has character this is it! This may not be the most prettyboot scraper but it is certainly primitive and original.
