Must have for the Victorian era collector. Very early cast iron mailbox. PAT APP FOR stamped on box. Two top doors work well as does lowerpeekaboo hole (these doors are often missing on these old boxes).
Box is in generally good condition as seen in pictures. It appears there may have been a lower tab (screw mount) hole on bottom of the box that is no longer there, but it does not effect the appeal of the item. Some boxes had them and some boxes had slots, this may have been modified to fit a slot mount box holder. In any case, the box looks great! It could use a cleaning, as I only dusted it off after purchasing it.
I just listed a second antique box at a lower price. If you like both, I will combine shipping. That box is cast iron and tin with a grate style front & has a great look.
