A LUCKY CHINESE EXPORT SILVER THREE (3) DRAGON BOWL with COBALTBLUE GLASS LINER by WANG HING, HONG KONG, CHINA. CIRCA 1900.
EXCELLENT ESTATE CONDITION. NO DINGS or DENTS or DAMAGE.
The cobalt glass lineraccentuates the pierce work beautifully.
Everything is hand done. Note the numerous and detailed dragon scales. All hand engraved and repousse.
This piece includes theclassic \"opposing dragon\" motif where the dragons are fighting over the pearl of wisdom, set here as a reserve for a possible inscription. The whole of the design, essentially just an elaborate cartouche.
There are 3 dragons. A lucky number in Chinese culture. Of significance since there are three important stages in a man’s life (his birth, his marriage and his death).
Underneath,we have a mark by the esteemed firm of Wang Hing, Hong Kong, China.
Please look at the photo details where you can see that the silver is quite thick.
It measures: 3\" across x 1.5\"tall. Weighs 2.8 ounces.
