Antique Chinese Silver Enamel Fisherman Chatelaine Needle or Toothpick Case:
$230.50
This is a very interesting piece. It\'s an antique Chinese enamel silver needle or toothpick case. It was designed to hang off a chatelaine or off a nobleman\'s belt. It\'s the figure of a fisherman with a rod and a small basket with a fish in it. It has a coral bead hanging off the end piece and a bat design on top of the hook. The back of the hook has Chinese characters that I can\'t read. The whole thing is 6 1/2 in. long from the top of the hook to the bottom of the bead. The figure is 2 1/4 in. long. The figure has shade of blue enamel along with some bits of light purple and brown. There are also some enamel caps on each side of the coral bead and a small cone that hangs down from the bead. The bead is 1/2 in. long. The case slides out of the bottom of the figure and has a small opening at the top for the needle or the toothpicks. There is damage to the enamel. I\'ve tried to take pictures of everything. I\'ve also noticed a small amount of verdigris on a couple of spots and have been successful in getting most of it off with a little bit of vinegar. Please look carefully at all of the pictures and please check out my other sales.
