Antique early American pressedglass (EAPG) early New England region Victorian Gothic pressed glass open tablesalt dish whose hexagonal shape and small size has caused its title as ‘thedoor knob salt’ for its form closely anticipates the glass door knob form thatpredominated a few decades later.New England; Boston or Sandwich area, 1850-70. 2 1/8” tall by 3” wide at the top point to point. Notably good usage wear on the bottomand on the sides on the vertical corners.Guaranteed old and original; this is not a fake or reproduction. Verygood original condition noting a 1” under base rim chip with a ¼” chip oppositethat chip, again noting the attractive usage wear on the base and outer edgesof the sides and mentioning for accuracy a little usage or mold roughness onthe inner top rim probably from actual usage, as found.
