ANTIQUE CLAY BRICK JOVA Brick Works, Roseton and Danskammer PT Hudson River, NY. The receding ice age glaciers left large amounts of high quality clay along the Hudson River and Hudson River Valley. JOVA Brick Works started in the 1840s and produced high quality bricks that were shipped by barge and / or train throughout the Northeast and used in building mills, schools, and public buidlings prior to the use of steel infrastructure. This brick recovered from a machine manufacturing mill Providence RI which was being transformed into a medical office building. The building was originally built in 1890 dating this antique brick to the decade of 1890s. Please examine all photos carefully as this is the brick that you will receive. This brick is an excellent example of a JOVA Brick Works brick. The lettering is crisp and placed within the FROG or Indentation. This is a great example for collectors of antique bricks, masonry, and tiles.
