This is a beautiful antique early 19th century Italian or French carved gilt wood mirror. It may even be from the late 18th century.

It measures 38 1/2 inches tall by 20 inches wide (98 cm x 179 cm).

This is a truly a gorgeous hand carved mirror with foliage and scrolls. The workmanship is just lovely.

Given its age, I think it\'s in surprisingly good condition. There are some signs of glue in the back on top, so this was likely restored many, many years ago in that general area. There are some scattered areas with gilding loss, but nothing very large and nothing that stands out. There are a couple of small chipped off pieces, but these must\'ve happened many years ago as they don\'t even show.

The main mirror has a lot of spotting and wear. Personally, I think it looks great. The small top mirror has darkened and is peeling. The two side side mirrors have spotting and fogging and the bottom mirror has almost totally darkened.

The back still has its two original early hand forged iron hooks. I believe the back piece of wood covering the mirror has been replaced, as it doesn\'t show the age of the rest of the piece. There is a piece of wood on the back just above the mirror which looks like it was replaced many years ago. There are a few other strips of wood missing on the back which were probably used as some type of reinforcement.

The patina on this mirror just can\'t be beat! It is a beautiful rich, golden color.
