This is a very attractive antique early 20th century Art Deco gold frame.
It dates circa 1920s or 1930s.
Overall it measures 29 1/2 inches x 32 1/2 inches (75 cm x 81.9 cm). The back opening size measures 26 1/2 inches x 29 1/4 inches (67.3 cm x 74.3 cm). The molding width measures 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm).
The frame was painted dark red and was then covered in a beautiful, deep gold color. It has developed a great old crackle to it over the years.
There is some wear to the finish, including scuff marks, nicks and worn off gold. Each of the corners has wear it. The top of the top piece of molding has more wear than the other parts of the frame, but it mostly won\'t be seen while hanging up.
There are four drilled holes in the back of the frame. This does not affect it at all though. However, they also made a hole in the back of the bottom piece of molding, but it went through to the side of the frame where they also cut out a tiny piece of the frame which shows a touch on the front. It measures approximately 1 1/4 inches wide x 1/8 inch high (3.2 cm x .3 cm). I took a separate photo of this. It\'s not a very big deal, but it is there.
The frame has a great looking layered design, giving it a wonderful old Art Deco feeling.
There is no glass.
It was definitely made by a skilled and talented framemaker at a good studio.
It weighs a little under 4 lbs. 4 oz. (1.92 kg).
It has what I always look for in frames, that wonderful old world look!
